Elemaster Group welcomed students involved in the CAPSTONE project developed in collaboration with Rizoma and the Politecnico di Milano, during a visit centred on innovation, design and inclusive mobility.
The team is working on the development of a tricycle concept for people with mobility impairments, designed to integrate advanced assistance systems and rehabilitation technologies based on functional electrostimulation. The project addresses needs that are still too often underestimated today: overcoming the limitations of traditional rehabilitation and extending physical activity beyond clinical settings, making it more accessible and better integrated into everyday life. At the same time, it also responds to the challenge of designing for users with specific and non-standardised needs.
A distinctive element of the initiative lies in the collaboration between industry and design. Rizoma has promoted the project by highlighting the value of an approach that combines engineering and aesthetic research, while Elemaster contributes nearly fifty years of experience in engineering and in the electronics industry.
When developing devices intended for everyday use, functionality and desirability must go hand in hand. This balance plays a decisive role in determining both their actual adoption and their effectiveness in real-life contexts.
For the Group, moments like this represent an important step in helping transform ideas and research into real products, addressing issues such as industrialisation, scalability and build quality from the earliest stages of development. For one day, the ELEVO Innovation HUB became a point of connection between academia, industry and design, enabling a process in which different skills and perspectives converged towards a shared objective.
Elemaster Group would like to thank Mattia Dellepiane for Rizoma’s contribution and Davide Savona of the Politecnico di Milano for his academic guidance, as well as all the students for their commitment and work.
